Escape From Castle Black

A text-based roguelike with deep combat mechanics. Chop up your enemies limb from limbs- chop off their hands to make them drop their weapons, chop of their legs to make them fall over, cut out their eyes to blind them. Of course you'll have to fight hard to keep your limbs as you progress through the dungeon. Don't worry about it too much though- you can always grow new ones.

You are a prisoner in the dungeons of an evil king. Every day you hear the screams when the king's servants torture the prisoners. Today it's finally your turn.

You knew this day would come, and luckily you prepared for it. You have a sharpened shiv you managed to make while you were waiting, and a friend smuggled you in a potion of stoneskin. But ready or not, it's your time.

You will need to fight your way out of the dungeon and up through the castle to defeat the evil king. On the way you will battle the king's servants as well as encounter innocents who had no idea of the horrors that were taking place here. Some will fight on your side.

You will find loot, weapons, and armor, as well as other potions of a horrific nature. The truth of what is happening here is more gruesome than even your worst nightmares. Be prepared.

Instructions

The intro screen. Launch the game and enter your name.

This is the map. The blue U shows your location. Os are doors and the letters C, T, and G represent different types of rooms.

This is your character sheet. As you can see it shows your limbs, which are modeled on a tree. The whole body is modeled, as are all your opponents' (human and otherwise). If your arm is cut off, you'll lose everything lower on the tree- hand, fingers, thumb. 

Combat is turn based. Your enemies will try to cut off your limbs, and you'll try to cut off theirs. Here Hanand, a goblin, tries to chop your thumb off but you block the blow with your arm.

Your turn! Luckily for you, you were more successful. Hanand loses his foot and falls over. Enemies can bleed out, and chopping off all their heads will kill them too. But you'll often want to start by weakening them- or maybe you just enjoy that sort of thing.
